SECONDEE: Regulatory Affairs Specialist - Energy Efficiency

TERMS

Your current home employer remains your employer during the period in which you perform your contribution to the Center.

Thus, the employer obligations will remain with your home employer including payment of all compensation, salaries, remuneration, and costs owed to you as an employee, as well as any social or employment-related taxes and all associated costs and expenses.

OVERVIEW

This is a fantastic opportunity and you will be involved in work to drive regulatory change in the maritime industry.

We are modest in saying that transition will not happen without regulations.

You will join an amazing team with 10 people covering multiple topics of regulations: safety, energy efficiency, market-based measures, LCA, etc.

The team has people coming from all different backgrounds across the shipping value chain.

ORGANIZATION AND TEAM

Chief Officer Business Regulation & Analytics > Head of Regulation & Standards > Secondee.

PRIMARY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Drive work in the Regulatory Affairs team related to energy efficiency (CII, EEDI, EEXI, and innovative regulations).
  • Develop innovative regulations to drive energy efficiency.
  • Keep an up-to-date knowledge of energy efficiency regulations (IMO, EU, etc).
  • Act as the focal point of contact on the matter for the Regulatory Affairs Team.
  • Lead work packages in ongoing projects.
  • Write technical papers/submissions to IMO meetings (MEPC, ISWG) related to the topic.
  • Participate in advocacy work related to the topic.

WHAT GOOD LOOKS LIKE

  • The successful candidate will be responsible for driving the decarbonization of the shipping industry through engagement with stakeholders and the development of regulatory policies and standards.
  • The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of regulatory requirements applicable to the energy transition in shipping, including IMO Regulations, GHG policies, national economic plans, EU regulations, and fuel certification mechanisms.

CONTENT KNOWLEDGE AND COMPETENCIES NEEDED.

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field (e.g. naval engineering, energy, environmental science, or a related discipline).
  • At least 2 years of experience in regulatory affairs in the shipping industry, with a focus on decarbonization efforts and energy efficiency.
  • Understanding of regulatory requirements applicable to the energy transition in shipping, including IMO Regulations, GHG policies, national economic plans, EU regulations, and fuel certification mechanisms.
  • Understanding of the shipping industry.
  • Exposure to a similar role in the past is an asset but not mandatory.
