SECONDEE: Regulatory Affairs Specialist - Safety/Plan Approval

TERMS

Your current home employer remains your employer during you are the period where you perform your contribution to the Center.

Thus, the employer obligations will remain with your home employer including payment of all compensation, salaries, remuneration, and costs owed to you as an employee, as well as any social or employment-related taxes and all associated costs and expenses.

OVERVIEW

This is a fantastic opportunity and you will be involved in work to drive regulatory change in the maritime industry.

We are modest in saying that transition will not happen without regulations.

You will join an amazing team with 10 people covering multiple topics of regulations: safety, energy efficiency, market-based measures, LCA, etc.

The team has people coming from all different backgrounds across the shipping value chain.

ORGANIZATION AND TEAM

Chief Officer Business Regulation & Analytics > Head of Regulation & Standards > Secondee.

PRIMARY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Identification and analysis of maritime safety legislation across domestic, regional and international legislative outlets.
  • Advise on current topics and themes directed at safety regulation, climate impacts, and decarbonization.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of the regulatory landscape pertaining to safety regulations.
  • Support the team in formulating Center policy recommendations pertaining to especially towards MSC, CCC, PPR, committee, and subcommittees.
  • Support the ongoing projects relating to Ammonia Safety, especially the ongoing correspondence group at IMO related to alternative fuels.
  • Support the ongoing projects relating to innovative technologies: carbon capture, fuel cells, and batteries.
  • Be the focal point in the Center for Classification of ships and compliance with statutory requirements.
  • Support developing a Center action plan in terms of the development of safety-related mandatory requirements.

CONTENT KNOWLEDGE AND COMPETENCIES NEEDED

  • Naval Architect or Marine Engineer.
  • 5+ years of experience.
  • Hands-on experience or previous exposure to plan approval activities in classing ships.
  • International experience preferred.
  • Understanding of IMO Regulations, especially SOLAS, IGC, IGF, and MARPOL.
