SECONDEE: Shipbuilding expert

TERMS

Your current home employer remains your employer during you are the period where you perform your contribution to the Center.

Thus, the employer obligations will remain with your home employer including payment of all compensation, salaries, remuneration, and costs owed to you as an employee, as well as any social or employment-related taxes and all associated costs and expenses.

OVERVIEW

This is a fantastic opportunity to apply your knowledge of ship design / ship building into a dynamic environment based on pure research and development and with a keen eye into accelerating the decarbonization journey of shipping.

The Ship Design team is looking for a secondee with experience from the shipyard environment to work in an array for dedicated projects spanning from methanol conversions, ammonia newbuilds as well as preliminary studies on battery powered vessels, to name a few.

ORGANIZATION AND TEAM

Chief Technology Officer - Onboard Vessel Solutions Officer > Head of Ship Design > Secondee.

PRIMARY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Be the expert and advise on shipyard practices in design and construction of vessels.
  • Maintain a good understanding of shipyard and construction practices, production lines as well as newbuild commissioning.
  • Support ongoing or new projects associated with shipyard capability and technical requirement assessment for construction and delivery of alternative fuel newbuild vessels and retrofits.
  • Support ongoing or new projects and pertinent scoping related to agility, standardization in ship design process, construction and technology adoption to accelerate transition.
  • Advise on requirements and shipyard abilities in terms of novel technology development and introduction.
  • Knowledge of the newbuild and retrofit process, heavily focusing on the standardization/modularization possibilities of the ship design.

CONTENT KNOWLEDGE AND COMPETENCIES NEEDED

  • Naval Architect or Marine Engineer with background in shipbuilding. 5+ years of experience.
  • Hands-on experience or previous exposure to shipbuilding, project management and or plan approval.
  • Understanding of IMO Regulations, especially SOLAS, IGC, IGF, and MARPOL.
  • Excellent communication and writing skills in English language.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic environment of uncertainties, while at the same time maintaining execution discipline.
  • Able to work full time from our amazing new offices in Copenhagen.
  • Ability to be positive looking and approaching challenges as opportunities for something new.
