SECONDEE: Human Factors Specialist

TERMS

Your current home employer remains your employer during you the period in which you perform your contribution to the Center.

Thus, the employer obligations will remain with your home employer including payment of all compensation, salaries, remuneration and costs owed to you as an employee, as well as any social or employment related taxes and all associated costs and expenses.

OVERVIEW

This is a fantastic opportunity to apply Human Factors engineering principles & practice to guide the maritime industry in its efforts to prepare for alternative-fuel operations.  You will join the Onboard Vessel Solutions department at MMMCZCS and contribute to/lead research studies related to safety and human factors together with our partners and collaborators.

ORGANIZATION AND TEAM

Chief Technology Officer - Onboard Vessel Solutions > Head of Safety Leadership & Operations > Secondee

PRIMARY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Support ideation and scoping of relevant projects with HF expertise input
  • Develop and advise on Human Factor considerations that enable safe operations of alternative fuel vessels
  • Interact closely with partners in and outside the Center to scope projects, manage project activities and leverage Human Factors know how
  • Support ongoing projects relating to enabling ammonia as a marine fuel, especially contributing to regulatory relevant bodies as IMO in their work towards developing safety regulatory frameworks that support the industry in reaching its decarbonization targets.
  • Deliver professional and structured project execution and reporting output

WHAT GOOD LOOKS LIKE

  • Contribute to or lead projects related to area of expertise
  • Utilize own partner knowhow and resources to drive and contribute to MMMCZCS projects
  • Project delivery according to project plans and targets
  • Support or lead Human Factor related MMMCZCS projects to establish our position on Human Factors and provide industry with relevant guidance on Human Factor considerations

CONTENT KNOWLEDGE AND COMPETENCES NEEDED

  • Professional background as human factors and ergonomics (HF/E) professional and practitioner with a recognized qualification
  • Accreditation or membership of an HF/E related professional organisation is desirable
  • Knowledge of human factors principles and methodologies, risk management, and system design
  • Abilities to lead projects is desirable
  • Ability to develop, structure and convey technical written information in an effective and impactful manner towards a broad audience

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
  • Experience from the maritime industry or other high-risk, safety-critical environment
  • Experience with HF/E engineering or practice from the maritime domain or alternatively other safety critical domains
  • Practical experience of undertaking HF projects in the workplace, specifically in the control of risks within major hazards industries
  • Experience of working in multidisciplinary teams, assessing the importance of HF issues alongside other stakeholder’s concerns
  • Understanding of and practical experience with risk management methodologies and safety core processes incl. RA, MoC, HAZID and HAZOPs is advantageous
