The decarbonization of the maritime industry requires alternative fuel choices and new innovative onboard technologies. The Mærsk McKinney Møller Center for Zero Carbon Shipping has established a joint industry project approach in collaboration with a range of industry-leading partners across the supply chain. The ambition is to investigate and develop future design options for environmental ships, including zero or low-emission fuels, storage systems, power solutions, and energy efficiency means.

Within the Center, the Ship Design Manager will be responsible for, and project manage a key portfolio of R&D and feasibility projects with our partners, spanning from new vessel concept designs to retrofit packages of existing vessels on water. The role will be instrumental in delivering on the Center Fleet Transition impact hub and R&D strategy and providing input to the maritime decarbonization strategy including economic analysis and technical feasibility. The successful candidate has a keen interest for detailed project management, innovation and R&D in the maritime world but also very accustomed to customer focus acumen.

The role is a permanent, full-time position offered under local employment terms, with the majority of work conducted onsite at our Copenhagen office. While relocation support is not provided, we offer assistance with the work visa process.

You will need to have the “customer first” acumen, and be able to analyze the challenges of our partners while translating them to actionable projects that are linked to the Centre’s strategy and our impact hub objectives.
