The Mission

The Mærsk Mc-Kinney Møller Center for Zero Carbon Shipping is a not-for-profit, independent research- and development center working to decarbonize the maritime industry by 2050.   

With a broad portfolio of global partners across the energy- and shipping sectors with industry, academia, and authorities, the Center explores viable decarbonization pathways, facilitates the development and implementation of new energy technologies; builds confidence in new concepts and their supply chains; and accelerates the transition by defining and maturing viable strategic pathways to the required systemic change.

We are now looking for a new colleague with an expert analytical profile who can combine deep technical understanding with overall transition targets to assume a newly established position as Transition Intelligence Partner. You will assess latest technological developments within energy and maritime and translate them into transition positions that inform and guide our strategy and activities.

The Center is located in Copenhagen but works with partners globally in interdisciplinary teams of ambitious and mission driven people with a clear desire to create an impact on the transition.

The Opportunity

As our Transition Intelligence Partner, you will be responsible for monitoring how mega-trends in the technology landscape influence the maritime transition. The results delivered by our project portfolio allow us to innovate, confirm and document key developments for the transition. By aggregating key developments from our work and technology trends we can formulate transition positions on energy pathways, contracting models, regulatory adoption and other topics driving the transition. Through analysis and engagement with leading experts in the Center and our global network, you will build a platform of transition positions around enabling technologies to inform Center’s strategy and activities.

Furthermore, you will act as a key point of contact for our academic partners to ensure their deep involvement in Center work and projects. This includes facilitation of an academic knowledge network to ensure that Center thought leadership and expertise is leveraged.

You will mobilize your virtuous collaborative and analytical skills to work across our organization. You will experience a fascinating blend of strategic foresight, technical analysis, and academic engagement within the maritime decarbonization space. The Transition Intelligence Partner reports to the Chief Technology & Analytics Officer.

Day-to-day Responsibilities

  • Drive the development and maintenance of the Center positions on the maritime decarbonization, based on internal and external knowledge and information
  • Own and activate the Center’s academic partner network, and act as key point of contact into the Center for academic partners
  • Facilitate involvement of academic partners into Center activities, e.g. as sounding boards for functions and projects
  • Integrate the Center positions in the ideation and scoping of new activities in the Center
  • Activate Center positions across the organization informing the industry transition, Center strategy and project activities

Who are we looking for?

Many of our projects are the first of their kind, why navigating complexities and uncertainties comes as an inherent part of our work. To succeed you must thrive collaborating in an interdisciplinary environment working with subject matter experts and thought leaders across multiple disciplines. You possess both the curiosity and technical astuteness to learn, challenge, adopt, and consolidate cross discipline input to drive development of Center positions. We are looking for a profile who possesses a combination of interpersonal and strategic skills able to effectively convey information, build relationships, obtain followship, and contribute to the overall success of the Center network and projects. Ideally, you recognize yourself in the following description:  

  • Master's degree in engineering, or related technical field is required
  • You have 5-10 years’ working experience
  • Excellent communication, and interpersonal skills, with a proven track record to collaborate effectively at all levels of the organization and within a cross-disciplinary context
  • Ability to act in a multi-disciplinary environment and to manage global stakeholders
  • Holistic thinker with a strong analytical mindset and a proven track record of translating data, knowledge and information into brief, actionable insights
  • Experience from the shipping industry, energy sector, regulatory and/or similar sectors relevant to the Center work is an advantage
  • Experience in business development and/or innovation activities related to renewable energy, alternative fuels or maritime technology
  • Ability to translate deep technical knowledge to clear, compelling and coherent transition intelligence and position documents that project teams and partners can take steer from
  • Fluency in English both verbal and written.

Employment is offered under local Danish employment terms, with the majority of work conducted onsite at our Copenhagen office. While relocation support is not provided by the Center, we do offer assistance with the work visa process and local registration.
