Fleet Transition

Student Assistant - Vessel Performance Analyst

Who We Are

We’re a not-for-profit Center dedicated to decarbonizing the maritime industry. Our team unites experts from many fields – engineers, economists, analysts, software developers, and more – who share a passion for making a real difference. We’re based in Copenhagen but collaborate globally. We value collaboration, curiosity, and treating people (and the planet) right.

Who You Are

To be considered for this role, you must be enrolled in a study program in the Copenhagen area, preferably either in the third year of a Bachelor’s degree or the first year of a Master’s program. You’re a sharp, analytical, and curious mind who loves connecting the dots, learning fast, and asking the right questions. You’re studying engineering, preferably Naval Architecture or Marine Engineering or similar, and you’re comfortable with data and problem-solving. You enjoy tackling complex problems, adapting quickly to new information, and sharing clear insights. If that sounds like you, let’s talk.

What You’ll Do

You’ll join our Fleet Performance and Energy Efficiency team and you’ll be supported by our Fleet Transition colleagues. We tackle a variety of projects – like developing best practice methods for quantifying the impact of energy efficiency measures onboard ships or recommending data driven regulations on energy efficiency.

In our daily work, we typically use:

  • Excel for simpler modeling and data crunching.
  • PowerPoint for presenting insights to stakeholders.
  • Python – for the analysis of complex and large data sets.

Specifically, you will:

  • Investigate vessel performance challenges: Dive into data, answer key questions, and present concise findings.
  • Lead analytics tasks from start to finish: Tackle analytics projects end to end – from scoping tasks to delivering clear insights.
  • Grow with mentorship: Work closely with our team members, share results with stakeholders, and develop your analytical and communication skills along the way.

Why Join Us

We aim for a supportive, friendly environment where collaboration thrives. We’re proud of our mission to guide one of the world’s hard-to-abate industries toward a greener future. You’ll have room to explore, learn, and do your best work – plus, we like to have fun along the way. You’ll join our network of student assistants and work flexible hours (around 15–20 per week) that respect your exam schedule. As you develop your skills with us, you’ll see your work make a genuine impact, gaining hands-on experience in analytics and problem-solving.
