Who You Are

A visionary leader with a passion for sustainability and a proven track record in public affairs, ideally within the maritime, transport, or energy sectors.

  • Expertise in navigating global institutions like the IMO and regional organizations such as the EU.
  • Strong knowledge of decarbonization challenges and opportunities in the maritime sector.
  • Proven experience supporting or leading large-scale, multi-stakeholder projects such as green corridors, clean energy initiatives, or similar pilot programs.
  • Outstanding communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to engage a wide range of stakeholders across cultures and sectors.
  • A results-oriented mindset, capable of translating complex policy discussions into actionable outcomes.’

 

What You’ll Do

Spearheading strategic engagement and collaboration at global, national, and local levels. This pivotal position shapes policies, fosters partnerships, and influences decision-makers across the entire maritime eco-system of stakeholders, including the International Maritime Organization (IMO), key member states, and the EU. In addition, you will collaborate with other key stakeholders from NGOs, private companies, ports, municipalities, and other stakeholders to accelerate the maritime sector’s transition to sustainable decarbonization by 2050.

A critical part of this role will be supporting the establishment and implementation of global regulation as well as first-mover projects, such as maritime green corridors—pioneering routes connecting key ports where decarbonization initiatives are piloted and scaled up.

Engage at the global level:

  • Represent our organization as part of the Center’s delegation in high-level discussions at the IMO, advocating for robust and ambitious international decarbonization policies.
  • Build alliances with global NGOs, governments, and industry bodies to advance common goals.

Shape regional and national policy:

  • Work closely with EU institutions to influence maritime policy, funding mechanisms, and decarbonization strategies.
  • Collaborate with several IMO member states, guiding them in implementing cutting-edge regulations and practices.

Drive local impact:

  • Partner with municipalities, ports, business and local governments to pioneer decarbonization initiatives and pilot programs.
  • Engage with companies and regional stakeholders to scale up practical solutions and technologies.

Support first-mover projects:

  • Lead efforts to establish and implement e.g. maritime green corridors, working with ports, shipping companies, governments, and other stakeholders to accelerate the deployment of zero-emission technologies.
  • Facilitate multi-stakeholder collaborations to design and launch innovative pilot projects along critical trade routes.
  • Advocate for enabling policies, funding mechanisms, and private-sector commitments to ensure the success of these corridors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Policy Advocacy: Develop further on our public affairs approach, advancing maritime decarbonization at all governance levels.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Build strong relationships with governments, NGOs, industry leaders, and local communities.
  • First-Mover Projects: Drive the conceptualization and implementation of green corridors, ensuring they serve as scalable blueprints for the industry.
  • Thought Leadership: Serve as an excellent communicator and thought leader, articulating the importance of decarbonization within the maritime sector.
  • Collaboration: Foster partnerships across the value chain, from global policymakers to port authorities and local innovators.
  • Monitoring & Reporting: Stay ahead of policy developments and ensure the organization’s alignment with global and regional trends.

The position is full-time and based in our office in Nordhavn, Copenhagen.
